College Tennis Scoring System
Under the current system, a college tennis match consists of three doubles matches and six singles matches which determine seven total points as follows:
Doubles - Three matches are played in doubles to determine the first point of the match. One pro set (first to eight games by two) is played at each position and the team that wins two (or three) of the three matches, wins the first point of the team match. If a doubles match is tied at 7-7, a 12-point tiebreaker (first to seven points by two) is played to determine the winner.
Singles - Following doubles, six matches are played in singles with each match counting one point toward the team score. Each is played best two out of three traditional sets (first to six games by two). If the players are tied at 6-6 in a set, a 12-point tiebreaker (first to seven points by two) is played to determine the winner.
The team to score four points or more is the winner of the match.
